Karen Oakes - Executive Coach

Hi, I think its important that you know a little bit about me, before entering into an agreement for me to support you and your business.

The basics of my professional history is that I worked in the corporate sector during my twenties and thirties as an accountant with some overlaps to the human resources sector. I then developed a keen interest in psychology and the inner workings of human beings, as opposed to looking at spreadsheets and hiring and firing of staff. I undertook a number of roles and educational diplomas and degrees in counselling, family work and psychotherapy. I worked within the antisocial behaviour teams and supported family conflict and relationship resolutions for a few years before opening up a psychotherapy practice for 17 years. I trained and supervised other therapists and supported development of their private practices.

A large majority of my client base were business owners and so I began to recognise the stress and strain of executives and then went on to do my level 7 training in executive coaching. It now feels like my professional development all lead to this purpose and I can honestly say, I love my work and lets be honest, we spend most of our waking life working, it needs to be enjoyable!

 

I am passionate about helping people find belief in their own capabilities and I like to be a coach that leads by example. I am compassionately challenging, and I don’t shy away from being real and honest with my feedback but I am always focussed on the benefit of achieving the aim for my client.

Coaching is particularly interesting because there is the overall aim of the business, which is the ultimate goal and then the individual aims that need to be accounted for in order to attain it.

 

Businesses’ are created to reach the goal that someone once realised they couldn’t achieve alone and so the unification of employees being effective is essential, no matter how large or small the business has become.  I believe the best alliances are made by the best leaders and leaders need to know how to transform themselves and their staff if they are to meet the everchanging demands of the markets and business needs. I am enthusiastic about supporting that to happen by supporting growth in a leaders capabilities.
